Synopsis:

By the year 1900, Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, John Wesley Hardin, and virtually all of the West's legendary outlaws are either dead or in jail pending execution-all of them, that is, except train robber and escape artist extraordinaire, Harry Tracy. As the last survivor of the Wild Bunch, Tracy pulls off a series of profitable robberies before making his way west to Portland, Oregon, in search of Catherine Tuttle, a judge's daughter who has captured his heart. Instead, Tracy is betrayed, arrested, and imprisoned. But no jail can hold him for long. After making his escape, Tracy becomes the target of the largest manhunt in the history of North America. He seeks out Catherine who joins him in his flight, and their love deepens under the constant threat of capture. With hundreds of posses and national guardsmen on their heels, Tracy knows that time is running out-and when it does, there will only be two options: surrender or die...

Also known as Harry Tracy - Desperado, this austere Canadian western stars Bruce Dern in the title role. A charming but unscrupulous train robber, Tracy courts capture and hanging when he falls in love with Helen Shaver, daughter of a judge. Tracy's most trusted lieutenant is Michael C. Gwynne, a would-be painter who tags along with the bandit in order to commit his exploits to canvas. Unfortunately, it is Gwynne who brings about Tracy's demise during the final shootout with sheriff Gordon Lightfoot (the same). In the tradition of such earlier oaters as Jesse James and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, the filmmakers do quite a whitewash job on Harry Tracy, who in real life would have probably shot his own grandma if there was money in it.

Western, drama. The story of real-life American criminal Harry Tracy, who escapes from prison in Oregon in 1902, killing three guards and a fellow inmate in the process, sparking one of the biggest manhunts in American history to that time. He evades capture for a couple of months, eventually making his way to Seattle.
