Synopsis:
This series, written by and starring Jimmy Nail follows the life of factory worker Jed Shepperd who writes country music in his spare time. When Jed's sister sends a record company a demo tape of him singing an American tells him he could be earning big money if he gets picked up by him. And the series follows Jed dreaming of being a country and western singer. In 1996 Crocodile Shoes I followed which saw Jed living in the big world and recording his second album.

As Crocodile Shoes returns, we see how Jed Shepperd is now a successful singer and is now based in Wiltshire, trying to write some songs for his 2nd album. However, his manager, Adrian, hasn't been around for a while and is missing. Later, Jed receives some disturbing news from the police, Ade has been murdered and he's the prime suspect! Jed also suspects that Pep is abusing his beloved sister, Emma.

Jed is arrested and charged on possession of cocaine and is sent to prison for a total of 28 days. Pep is livid when he finds out as he has lost the £100,000 that he put up for Jed's bail. Meanwhile, Pep beats Emma once again, and Wendy and Lucy discover that they are dating the same man!

Jed makes a desperate call to clear his name after the prison term and Adrian's death.
Meanwhile, Ted Quimby, a reporter from London, searches for a story about Jed. Jed treats Lucy with a romantic interlude only for Wendy to interupt them. Emma is finally hospitalized by the abusive Pep. Jed is livid and attempts to throttle Pep.

Emma shocks Jed by announcing her plans to marry the abusive Pep. Jed is dismayed. At the reception, Jed sings a new song, dedicated to his sister and niece. Pep attacks Emma in their hotel room after the wedding and is killed by Emma in self defence.

12 - Answered Prayers
Dec/12/1996
Emma is bundled into a police car on a charge of murder. Jed is gutted but he gets temporary custody of Beckie and Wendy lets them both stay at her flat. Wendy and Jed organise a benefit concert at a community center and it turns out a success. After this, Alan offers him a singing job. In court, with Emma most certainly going down for murder Mary turns up out of the blue and offers a vital piece of evidence of Pep's abusive nature on Emma. The verdict comes in. Meanwhile, Jed signs for Alan Clarke to try and restart his career. Clarke sets about trying to buy out his contract from Paradigm and demands an audit on where Jed's money has gone. Bowles decides that Jed has to be killed.

13 - Boom
Dec/19/1996
The record company, Paradigm release Jed from his contract. Meanwhile, Jed discovers he has been ripped off by Pilsbury, Bowles and his former manager Adrian. Alan Clarke tells him Paradigm owe him a lot of money. Jed searches for Bowles and then he abducts Wendy. Meanwhile Ade's killer is discovered and Jed performs his new single 'Country Boy' on a TV show.

Crocodile Shoes is a British 7-part television series made by the BBC and screened on BBC One in 1994. The series was written by and starred Jimmy Nail as a factory worker who becomes a country and western singer. The show's eponymous theme tune 'Crocodile Shoes' became a chart hit for Nail as did the album of the same name. A sequel, Crocodile Shoes II followed in 1996 and the theme tune 'Country Boy' was a hit for Nail too.
