Synopsis:

In this humorous paean to the joys of food, the main story is about trucker Goro who rides into town like a modern Shane to help Tampopo set up the perfect fast-food noodle restaurant. Woven into this main story are a number of smaller stories about the importance of food, ranging from a gangster who mixes hot sex with food to an old lady terrorizing a shopkeeper by compulsive squeezing of his wares.

A truck driver and his friend take pity on a pretty widow who operates a rundown noodle shop. They undertake to teach her how to make a success of her business, and she eventually learns how to make the best noodles and how to give the best service to her customers.

When two truck drivers help a widow with her noodle shop, it's just the launch-pad for Juzo Itami's utterly original, utterly unforgettable collision of yakuza film, Western and slapstick comedy which veers from one crazy food and sex obsessed scenario to the next!
