Antoine speaks to mirrors. He would really like to please his parents. Especially his father, who is so proud of his own beautifully framed university degree.Antoine wants to succeed. So does his younger brother Daniel. He has just received a luxury limousine, thats how much his employers like him. Antoine cant find a job. He tries though. So he starts telling lies. Small lies. Big lies. Mad lies. This unsettling film by Tom Geens delivers a poignant transference of Ressources Humaines by Laurent Cantet into the stagnant Brussels urban landscape. There is also Chabrol in the clinical examination of neurosis.Telerama (leading French film magazine)Tom Geens takes us to the end of unrest. The camera cuts through to the heart of despair, extracting all light. This world, poor and unforgiving, is our world. Tom Geens does not lie. He knocks you over.Cinema Tous Ecrans, GenevaGeens is a master of the fine line between tragedy and comedy.

In Liar, a young man (Jean-Benoît Ugeux) has lost his job but he forgoes telling his parents or his girlfriend. Instead, he tries to find a new job using an entirely invented resume, thus lying to both his loved ones and his prospective employers.
