Synopsis:
Using what we know about climate change today, we travel to 2100 and see what the consequences of global warming will be for the world at the end of the 21st Century if we don't start acting today. The science is based on the latest IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) Report from 2001 and is timed for TX to coincide with the release of the next report in 2007. The script follows five stories, showing how different social groups across the world may have to deal with the consequences of global warming. In northern Europe people are struggling with extreme heat, drought, flooding, plagues of locusts and other predators. We follow climate refugees from Africa and see how Europe is dealing with the influx. In the US, states squabble over water resources and organised crime gangs control them. In Canada, scientists struggle to protect dwindling biodiversity as flora and fauna across the globe become extinct. The total flooding of The Maldives brings yet more climatic refugees and calls for the global community to help displaced nations.

Year 2060. Climate predictions made at the beginning of the 21st century have turned out to be dramatically true: global warming of the Earth's atmosphere now has serious consequences on the every day lives of our grandchildren.
