Synopsis:
Devised by Dixon of Dock Green creator Ted Willis, Hunters Walk shared several similarities with the classic 1950s police drama - in particular a small-town setting, and storylines encompassing the more human aspects of police work. Based at a police station in a fictional Midlands town, Hunters Walk offered a contrasting alternative to the 1970's more hard-hitting, action-led urban crime dramas. Its small, idiosyncratic team of officers face a typically broad spectrum of cases, from neighbours' disputes and hooliganism to suspected murder. Offering an authentic portrayal of provincial police work - a premise later regaining in popularity with series like Juliet Bravo - Hunters Walk features excellent scripts by Roger Marshall (Public Eye) and Peter J. Hammond (Sapphire and Steel) among other noted writers. This release contains all the existing episodes of Hunters Walk that remain in the archive.

Written by Richard Harris
Directed by Robert Tronson
Original ITV Transmission 4 June 1973

Local Knowledge
Smith is awakened with the news that a woman has been assaulted. A sick man is at large, but Smith's reaction is typically straightforward: 'I don't want to understand him. I want him locked away for some other mug to sort out.' But what of the victim, Christine Lewis? How will the experience affect her, and the future of her marriage?
Guest Dennis Chinnery
Written by Richard Harris
Directed by Ron Francis
Original ITV Transmission 11 June 1973

Outcast
Stanley Haines returns to live in Broadstone after serving a two-year prison sentence for killing a baby. True, there were mitigating circumstances in his case; but, as Sgt. Ridgeway points out, and Stanley learns to his cost, no-one is a small town forgives or forgets a crime like this.
Guests Brian Pettifer and Jim Norton
Written by Nicholas Palmer
Directed by Robert Tronson
Original ITV Transmission 18 June 1973

Behaviour
Smith finds it a 'funny old day. One arriving and one trying to leave.' Trying to leave is young Jimmy Waller, a small-time crook who knows Broadstone too well and wants to escape its easy temptations. But what is Smith to make of Raymond Flack, returning after a twelve-year absence with an odd assortment of gifts for his relatives?
Guests Terence Rigby and Bella Emberg
