Synopsis:

Based on Evan Hunter's best seller A Matter of Conviction, The Young Savages is set in an East Harlem mired in racial tension and gang violence. While prosecuting the three Italian teens who murdered a 15-year-old blind Puerto Rican boy from a rival gang, Assistant D.A. Hank Bell (Burt lancaster) learns that there's is more to this case than meets the eye. Also starring Dina Merrill, Edward Andrews, Telly Savalas and Shelly Winters.

In New York's Spanish Harlem, a 15-year-old Puerto Rican boy is stabbed to death by three hoodlums from an Italian street gang. When the three teenagers are apprehended, Dan Cole, the politically ambitious district attorney, announces that he will demand the death penalty, but his prosecutor, Assistant D. A. Hank Bell (himself the product of a slum environment), decides to remain impartial until he has conducted a thorough investigation. Stars Burt Lancaster, Shelley Winters and Telly Sevalas.

A district attorney investigates the racially charged case of three teenagers accused of the murder of a blind Puerto Rican boy. He begins to discover that the facts in the case aren't exactly as they seem to be.
