Synopsis:

A barbarian named Kull unexpectedly becomes a king after an old king (whom Kull has just killed in a battle) gives his crown to him. But direct heirs of a killed king, trying to topple Kull and regain the throne, bring an old witch-queen Akivasha back to life. Their plan backfires, however, as Akivasha is going to allow their lords - demons - to rule the kingdom. The only thing that can stop her now is a breath of the god Volka.

Seeking to become part of the elite king's guard of the mythical country Valusia, barbarian hero Kull finds himself bequeathed the crown by a dying ruler. His attempts to free slaves and improve life for ordinary people rouses the animosity of the former king's commander and a sorceress is recalled to life, in the guise of a beautiful woman, to put an end to Kull. A battle between good and evil ensues.

Kull the Conqueror is a 1997 fantasy film about the Robert E. Howard character Kull starring Kevin Sorbo. It is a movie adaptation of Howard's Conan novel The Hour of the Dragon, with the protagonist changed to the author's other barbarian hero Kull. The story line also bears similarities to two other Howard stories, the Kull story 'By This Axe, I Rule' and the Conan story, 'The Phoenix on the Sword', which was actually a rewrite of the Kull story.
