Synopsis:

A personal portrait of the 20th century, told through the photographs and other memorabilia left by one of Barcelona's most successful and respected families. Through the Baladía family's doors passed everyone from Nijinsky to Gardel. We meet some extraordinary characters, especially the women-such as Ramona Soler, one of the first woman to create her own factory, or Isabel Llorach, a major patron of the arts and the inspiration for a number of fictional characters. Writer Javier Baladía delves deeply into his extended family's history, revealing the political and economic accomplishments alongside the shattered lives and secret love affairs, and offering a peculiar point of view on the private life of Barcelona's elite during the 'Golden Years' prior to the Civil War.

This is the private life of a high society family, the Baladias, showcasing the golden years of a cosmopolitan and cultivated bourgeoisie. A personal and ironic portrait of Twentieth Century Barcelona through the memories of one of its heirs, Javier Baladía. Remarkable families, prolific entrepreneurs, exquisite, fearful and wasteful individuals. We will discover with all of them their passion and indifference. We will discover the Barcelona which attracted Nijinsky, Barbara Hutton, Richard Strauss, Gardel. And we will revisit the city in which architects such as Gaudí or Puig i Cadafalch competed to design buildings for the wealthiest and managed to dazzle the world.

This film takes an ironic journey through the Barcelona of the 20th century, via the images inherited by Javier Baladía, a descendent of an eccentric upper class family. In a story told through the emotions, private lives and unmentionable secrets of this family, we are taken back to the times of splendour of an elite class that left behind a legacy that would position Barcelona as an international point of reference. Seldom can a single family alone put together a personal portrait of the 20th century.
