Synopsis:
In 1962, the proclamation of the Oberhausen Manifesto marked the beginning of New German Cinema. A new 2-disc DVD set has now been released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event. The DVDs contain 19 films from the period between 1958 and 1964, directed, produced, photographed or edited by one or more of the 26 filmmakers who signed the manifest. All films are subtitled in English, French and Spanish. The majority of the films were restored especially for the project "Provoking Reality", with which the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen is honouring the anniversary, and has just been screened to great acclaim at the 58th Oberhausen Festival. In 1962, the proclamation of the Oberhausen Manfesto marked the beginning of the New German Film. This 2-dsc DVD seht presents 19 short films from 1958-1964 produced, directed, photopgraphed or edited by one or more of the filmmakers who signed the manifesto. In addition, the DVD offers texts, documents and documentaries about the state of society in 1962 and contains a 20-page trilingual (German, English, French) booklet. It also includes a booklet and ROM features with essays and documents.
