Synopsis:

Two young women are caught up in a struggle of power, temptation and maddening attraction. When 15-year-old Emma tries out for a spot on a young womens equestrian acrobatics team, she is taken under the wing of her slightly older peer Cassandra. Obsessed with strength and control, Emma coverts Cassandras natural grace and poise while Cassandra in turn silently desires more than just Emmas respect. The competitive nature of the two girls relationship escalates to a violent plateau when Emma fails to make the team and armed with a pitchfork, takes matters into her own hands. She Monkeys is sexy, Swedish, psychological and deeply unsettling. Aschan skilfully subverts the coming-of-age genre into something altogether more sinister.

When Emma meets Cassandra, they initiate a relationship filled with physical and psychological challenges. Emma does whatever it takes to master the rules of the game. Lines are crossed and the stakes get higher and higher. Despite this, Emma can't resist the intoxicating feeling of total control.
