Synopsis:

Engine trouble causes an Athens-bound passenger jet to divert to Beirut for a 24-hour layover. 'There is no reason to worry,' the pilot announces. Perhaps there's no reason while in flight, but there are plenty of reasons on the ground: a crewmember's covert involvement with a gold-smuggling cartel puts the lives of all the crew in danger. Lex Barker, the handsome star who reigned as the screen's Tarzan from 1949 to 1953, and movie legend Mickey Rooney headline this tale of jet-set intrigue. Adding to the tale's international flavor and eye-filling appeal are film locations in colorful Beirut, 'the Paris of the Middle East,' and in the ancient, historically significant site of Byblos.

24 Hours to Kill is an all-star crime caper with Lex Barker playing airline pilot Jamie Faulkner and Mickey Rooney as Norman Jones, nicknamed Jonesy, a member of his crew. On a flight bound for Athens, the plane engine fails and requires an emergency landing in Beirut. During the 24 hour stopover, Jonesy is watched and followed by a number of suspicious people. He acts quite doubtful himself. The question of why Jonesy is being followed and what he has done in the past to explain his being followed provides the terror, action and suspense in the film.

When two engines fail over the Syrian desert this means an involuntary, but promising stay in Beirut for Captain Faulkner, his crew and the tourists on board.
