Synopsis:

The story centers on Maya, an inquisitive, adventurous and somewhat flighty young honeybee, and her adventures in the forest around her. Maya is born in a bee hive during internal unrest: the hive is dividing itself into two new colonies. Maya is raised by her teacher, Mrs. Cassandra. Despite Mrs. Cassandra's warnings, Maya wants to explore the wide world and commits the unforgivable crime of leaving the hive. During her adventures, Maya, now in exile, befriends other insects and braves dangers with them.

Maya the Bee is the story of an adventurous young honeybee named Maya and her insect friends. As soon as Maya is born into a busy hive, she is full of youthful curiosity. Her teacher Cassandra tries to instill in her the importance of gathering honey, and cautions her of the dangers outside the hive's safety. But Maya's curiosity about the world around her prevails against the warnings, and she decides to be the first bee to live outside the hive. Accompanying her is her best friend Willi, a cowardly but loyal companion. Together, they meet new friends and learn about the wonders of nature. But they must always remember the lurking dangers, from hostile hornets, to insect-eating spiders, to mysterious humans.

The Bee Maya lives in a field of flowers, along with the lazy Willy and many other friends. Maia is always looking for happiness and new adventures from the strict rules of her hive. The lively and curious character of Maya, combined with her great thirst for discovery, lead her to experiment with new and different experiences, which will help her find her way to freedom.
