Synopsis:
The Scottish town of Broughty Ferry doesn't know what's hit it. The sudden death of the sitting MP has resulted in a by-election that could change the political map of the UK. Bob Servant has been waiting his whole life for this level of attention and he's willing to do anything to keep it. Bob sells himself as a man of the people but doesn't really like people. He also has absolutely no understanding of the political process and uses the by-election campaign as a heaven sent opportunity for self-promotion. While the bewildered Broughty Ferry locals watch on, Bob and his long-suffering best pal and campaign manager Frank, attempt to pull off the greatest political shock of all.

Season 1
Launch Day S1, Ep1 Jan. 23, 2013
When the M.P. for Broughty Ferry dies cheeseburger magnate Bob Servant sees his opportunity to fill the breach as an Independent candidate. Disapproving of campaign manager Frank's uninspiring posters Bob goes on local radio, where his views on dog fouling - all guilty canines should be destroyed - are controversial and his attitude to disabled badges leads to a visit from the police. A trip to a primary school - erroneously arranged by Frank who thought it was a university - is similarly unsuccessful. Furthermore Bob's rival Nick Edwards has an excellent poster ...

A Local Man S1, Ep2 Jan. 30, 2013
Bob meets his charismatic opponent Nick Edwards and his glamorous wife Philippa, who have an expensive and lavish campaign, compared to Bob's threadbare effort. He does try to outdo them in oneupmanship by buying an expensive photo-copier but is warned by his accountant that he cannot afford it - in view of all the tax he owes. He manages to get an invitation the the lady provost's dinner,an opportunity he uses to try and gather support for his 'Local Man' campaign. However he has to make a quick exit after Nick Edwards arrives, having escaped from the cupboard in which ...

Women and God S1, Ep3 Feb. 6, 2013
Being the only unattached candidate Bob feels the need for a lady friend to help his campaign but none of his old flames will fit the bill. Also, seeing that Nick Edwards is a committed Christian Bob seeks endorsement from the local vicar and meets the widowed Kirsty,a volunteer church helper whom he thinks would be ideal as his companion. He takes her to dinner but panics when she tells him how her husband died and assumes she murdered him and has been paid by Nick Edwards to dispose of him too.Yet again Bob makes a fool of himself in public and still has to find a ...

The Media S1, Ep4 Feb. 13, 2013
Bob hi-jacks a television crew filming Nick Edwards and forces them to interview him but he gives a garbled, obscure speech which, shown out of context on the box, only makes him look stupid. For damage limitation he invites local reporters to speak to his mother Margo but she is no help and ultimately he has to persuade Frank to pose as a suicidal man about to jump from a tower so that Bob can appear a hero. Needless to say this plan also comes to grief.

The Debate S1, Ep5 Feb. 20, 2013
The election is a week away and Bob prepares for a live televised debate with the other candidates. Sadly the doctor will not give him things to make his eyes look sparkly under the cameras and the local gym will not help him improve his appearance since he was caught stealing their tennis racquets. With his attempt to hypnotise Nick into wanting to run to the toilet also a failure the debate does not seem to be going well for Bob as his interruptions of the rival candidates and lack of clear policies draw boos from the audience. But then something amazing happens ...

Election Day S1, Ep6 Feb. 27, 2013
Election day dawns and Bob's televised diatribe seems to have won him more votes. Unfortunately he is more concerned at being mocked by former work colleague and long-time adversary Hendo Henderson and, after destroying Hendo's television and fish tank,he is arrested and driven to the polling booth in a police car. The election results are predictable but Bob is determined to have the last word - and keep fighting, even though there is now nothing to fight for.

Bob Servant is a local "worthie" in the town of Broughty Ferry, infamous for his participation in the area's "Burger Wars", who decides to run in the upcoming by-election as an Independent Candidate. His lack of thought prior to speaking leads him into some funny situations and lots of trouble.
