Synopsis:

When an actor is murdered during the recording of a radio play, Detective Inspector Gregory quickly discovers that the victim had many enemies amongst his fellow players. When his deductions lead him into a blind alley he decides to reconstruct the crime, hoping that this tried and tested device will lead him to the killer. All the technical and human resources of Broadcasting House are brought to his aid...

British playwright Reginald Denham most often worked in collaboration with Edward Percy. The most famous of Denham and Percy's theatrical pieces was the psychological melodrama Ladies in Retirement, which was filmed twice by Hollywood, the first time in 1941 and the second (as The Mad Room) in 1969. On his own, Denham launched a movie directorial career in 1934, helming such programmers as Death at Broadcasting House and Kate Plus Ten. Reginald Denham kept busy as a writer, producer and director throughout the 1940s; his activities trickled off in the early 1950s, but by the close of that decade he was back as director of the Gina Lollobrigida vehicle Anna of Brooklyn (released in the U.S. in 1959 as Fast and Sexy).

An actor is murdered live on air whilst a play is being broadcast. Everyone in the play and broadcasting house fall under suspicion.
