Synopsis:
A 1998 BBC dramatisation, adapted by Andrew Davies, of William Makepeace Thackeray's Vanity Fair - the tale of Becky Sharp, a governess who more than compensates in brains and beauty for what she lacks in breeding. Becky Sharp (Natasha Little) is a scheming governess who tries to seduce her best friend's buffoon of a brother, Jos (Jeremy Swift), in an attempt to climb the social ladder. Becky then turns her attentions to aristocratic bounder Rawdon Crawley, while the mild and meek Amelia marries her childhood sweetheart, George Osborne. However, fate has a few twists in store for both women.

Episode #1.5 S1, Ep5 Nov. 29, 1998

Episode #1.6 S1, Ep6 Dec. 6, 1998
Dobbin confesses his love for Amelia, but she will not believe ill of George. Amelia and Becky reunite, and Becky finally tells Amelia of George's infidelity.

Natasha Little was cast as scheming country lass Becky Sharp, who managed to climb to the top of the British social ladder during and after the Napoleonic Wars, leaving a trail of broken hearts, betrayed friendships, and shattered reputations in her wake. Somehow, however, Becky always managed to land on her feet, and after mending her ways in middle age, she lived out her declining years as a much-beloved 'Lady Bountiful.'
