The young provincial can realize her dream: to live a life as an artist. She does it, she has fun, she has encounters with Balzac and most importantly, she writes. She shocks with her male attire, her stance and her free life. She chose a pen name, George Sand, and can write 'I am neither male nor female, I'm a writer.'
