Synopsis:

Enemies in Love tells the dramatic story of one of the most well-known and controversial couples of recent Swiss history, Iris Meyer and Peter von Roten. Von Roten was the scion of an aristocratic, conservative and Catholic family of politicians. He fell in love with the attractive law student Iris Meyer and she for him, despite their extremely contrary moral and political convictions. In marriage, Iris von Roten insisted on full independence in economic, professional and sexual matters. Their arguments about this are
documented in an exciting exchange of over 1300 letters between 1943 and 1950, reminiscent of the correspondence of Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre. The film uses actors (Mona Petri and Fabian Krüger), as well as archival footage and interviews with friends and relatives, to show a sparkling picture of this difficult, passionate and unconventional relationship.
