Synopsis:
Easygoing but psychotic Dennis (Anthony Perkins) is released from jail, where he has served a sentence for his complicity in a suspicious death. Wandering through an Ozzie & Harriet-type small town, Dennis befriends apparently normal high school A-student Sue Ann (Tuesday Weld). He fills her head with lies about his imaginary career as a secret agent. She is thrilled, and makes up her mind to join him in his further adventures. But first, she takes time out to calmly shoot her mother to death! This jet-black 'who's manipulating who?' seriocomedy was adapted by Lorenzo Semple Jr. from Stephen Geller's novel She Let Him Continue.

A formerly institutionalized young man (Anthony Perkins) meets up with a cute, sexy high school cheerleader (Tuesday Weld) and pretends to be a CIA agent to get her interested in him while she responds to his fantasy all too willingly. This, combined with her adult craving for sensual excitement, adds up to a potentially explosive pairing indeed. And explode it does.

Dennis Pitt, a mentally unstable young man, takes a break from arson to pursue the affections of Sue Ann, a young girl who has attitude problems of her own. Their developing relationship becomes a lethal combination as Sue Ann uses Dennis's undying devotion and his bragging about being a secret agent for her own evil ends.
