Synopsis:

Carnival dancer Lane Bellamy finds herself stranded in a southern town ruled by corrupt political boss Titus Semple. Lane becomes romantically involved with sheriff Fielding Carlisle, a weakling whose career is being driven by Titus. Seeing Lane as a liability to his own political ambitions, Titus mounts a campaign to get her driven out of town. She finds she can't get a job and even gets arrested on a trumped-up morals charge. Released from jail, Lane finds work as a "hostess" at Lutie-Mae's road house, where she meets Dan Reynolds, another member of the town's political machine. They marry and move to a home on Flamingo Road, the town's social pinnacle. Their marriage is soon marked by scandal when a drunken Carlisle visits Lane at home one evening and shoots himself.

Academy Award-winner Joan Crawford ("Mildred Pierce," "What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?") stars as a dancer in a traveling circus. Stranded in a corrupt Southern town, she becomes involved with two men, a weakling who betrays her and a corrupt political boss. She is eventually framed for murder by a crooked sheriff, played by Oscar-nominee Sydney Greenstreet ("Casablanca," "The Maltese Falcon"). Co-starring Zachary Scott ("Cass Timberlane") and David Brian ("How the West Was Won"). Directed by Academy Award-winner Michael Curtiz ("Casablanca," "Yankee Doodle Dandy") and produced by Oscar-winner Jerry Wald ("Mildred Pierce," "Peyton Place"). Spawned a TV movie and a CBS series.

Flamingo Road is a 1949 film noir directed by Michael Curtiz and starring Joan Crawford, Zachary Scott, Sydney Greenstreet and David Brian. The screenplay by Robert Wilder was based on a 1946 play written by Wilder and his wife, Sally, which was based on Robert Wilder's 1942 novel of the same name. The plot follows an ex-carnival dancer who marries a local businessman to seek revenge on a corrupt political boss who had her railroaded into prison.
