Synopsis:
With a stellar cast of much-loved British actors - Russ Abbot, Stephanie Beacham, Philip Jackson, James Smith, Alison Steadman, June Whitfield and Paula Wilcox - Boomers follows the ups and downs of three couples living in Thurnemouth, 'Norfolk's only West facing resort.' Alan (Philip Jackson, Poirot,) and Joyce (Alison Steadman, Gavin and Stacey) are coming at retirement from very different directions: Alan wants to slow down, Joyce wants to speed up. John (Russ Abbot, September Song) and Maureen (Stephanie Beacham, Bad Girls), live in their gadget-filled dream house, adventurous in every aspect including the bedroom. For them 60 is the new 40. However, there's a reminder of what's around the corner with Maureen's ever-present Mum Joan (June Whitfield, Absolutely Fabulous). And finally there's Trevor (James Smith, The Thick Of It) and Carol (Paula Wilcox, Mount Pleasant) who've got non-communication down to such a fine art that if Trevor spent a weekend away, Carol might not even notice. 30 years of living in each other's pockets have shown the benefits and drawbacks of staying friends over the decades...

Season 1
Episode #1.1 S1, Ep1 15 Aug. 2014
Norfolk seaside resort Thurnemouth is home to three retired couples, bossy Joyce and her easy-going husband Alan, ultra-conservative John and sensible Maureen and nervous Carol, who, with boring Trevor, is rebuilding the marriage after a separation. Only Alan is looking forward to seeing flash Mick, widower of Jean, whose funeral they are all attending, and who arrives from Spain with Lithuanian trophy wife Elena and tales of the wonderful life to be had by Brits seeking the sun. In fact it is all a lie as Elena tells Trevor, as Mick has lost their money and she is ...
Episode #1.2 S1, Ep2 22 Aug. 2014
Joyce organizes a fortieth wedding anniversary party for Carol and Trevor, inviting John and Maureen and Maureen's bibulous, wheelchair-bound mother Joan. Before setting out to the restaurant Carol confesses to Maureen and Joyce that she finds Trevor boring and plans to leave him. The women tell their husbands, all of them agreeing to keep it from Trevor. However Trevor's announcement that he plans to take Carol to Barbados to renew their wedding vows means that nobody need say anything as Carol takes him up on his offer.
Episode #1.3 S1, Ep3 29 Aug. 2014
The resort celebrates its history on Thurnemouth Day with Trevor dressing as Lord Nelson to cut a ribbon. Maureen takes him to get his costume, offering - unwanted - marital advice. Joyce attempts to get Carol into her choral society in order to impress Trevor but is denied her chance by the choir mistress. She gets revenge but as a result is thrown out of the society. John goes to collect Joan but ends up mending her toilet whilst Alan engages a geriatric builder to help lay his patio but ends up doing all the work himself.
Episode #1.4 S1, Ep4 5 Sep. 2014
Joyce is retiring and Alan is throwing a party for her at home - though she would prefer it to be in a country hotel. Homesick for London Maureen invites new residents Sara and Dan who have moved from the capital with their children, but the children have food allergies and break Joyce's garden gnome so she lets them know what she thinks of them as well as telling Alan how disappointed she is with her party. John's tribute video impresses her but better still is the news that poor family finances mean she need not retire after all.
Episode #1.5 S1, Ep5 12 Sep. 2014
Maureen and John are moving Joan from sheltered accommodation to a care home. Maureen's brassy sister Pauline arrives to 'help' but scares the men-folk with her predatory nature and almost scuppers the move. With finances tighter than she thought Joyce wants to down-size and invites an estate agent to value the house. She is anxious to keep the news from the others but when they all turn up at the house she is forced to cancel the valuation rather than admit the truth.
Episode #1.6 S1, Ep6 19 Sep. 2014
The three couples take their usual summer holiday at the Hollingers hotel's 6os weekend. Maureen loves it, unlike Joyce but things get worse when it appears that Alan only booked two rooms so the men are segregated from the women. Carol however enjoys herself when she meets old friend Dennis, with whom she spends all her time whilst Trevor surprises when he opts for the climbing wall as his activity - though he does get stuck. Tis will be a weekend they will not forget - or repeat.

A comedy series about three groups of friends coming to terms with retirement.
