Synopsis:

Michael Elphick stars in his best-loved role as a latter-day Lone Ranger in this enormously successful, BAFTA-winning series. Witty, heart-warming storylines and legendary guest stars - Brian Blessed, Daniel Craig, Dennis Waterman, Susannah York, Christopher Eccleston, Jenny Agutter and Leslie Phillips to name only a few - ensured Boon was a ratings winner over seven seasons and is fondly remembered to this day. Invalided out of the West Midlands Fire Service, Ken Boon teams up with old friend and fellow former 'smokey' Harry Crawford to run courier service Texas Rangers, followed by Crawford Boon Security; their helpmates include affable biker Rocky (Neil Morrissey in his first major TV role) and DC Margaret Daly (Amanda Burton). There's no shortage of drama as kind-hearted Ken and his troubleshooting posse take on cases ranging from marital infidelity to runaway rock stars, industrial espionage to straying big cats - and help to right a few wrongs in the process.

Ken Boon and Harry Crawford are two middle-aged ex-firemen who start out in business together, initially in Birmingham and later in Nottingham. During the seven series (1986-1992), Ken works his way up from odd-job man to private investigator while Harry runs two hotels, a ballroom, a country club and finally a security firm. Over the years they are assisted by Doreen Evans, Rocky Cassidy, Debbie Yates, Margaret Daly, Laura Marsh and Alex Wilton.
