Synopsis:
A sweeping historical mini-series based on the true story of Jessica 'Chubbie' Miller (Kerry Mack) and ex-RAF pilot Bill Lancaster (Nicholas Eadie), The Lancaster Miller Affair explores a remarkable and controversial partnership that stood the test of time. Seeking to broaden her horizons and pursue the romance of adventure, Jessica bankrolls a bold venture - teaming up with Bill in 1927 to be the first aviators to fly from Britain to Australia. A highly ambitious undertaking in their Avro Avian Red Rose, their monumental journey is not only measured by the perils of sky high adventure, but marked with heartbreak and triumph along the way. Also featuring the supporting talent of Charles 'Bud' Tingwell, June Salter, John O'May, produced by Paul F. Davies and directed by Henri Safran, The Lancaster Miller Affair captures an exciting and glamorous era in delightful detail.

The mini series became notorious for a clash with Australia's actors equity. The lead male roles of Lancaster and his friend Hayden Clarke were offered to Sam Neill and John Hargreaves, who turned them down. The producers then tested a large number of actors but claimed none of them were suitable and cast foreigners Peter Firth and Joseph Bottoms. Equity objected claiming the tests of the Australian actors rejected had not been properly carried out. Shooting was put back but eventually Nicholas Eadie and Wayne Cull were cast.
