Synopsis:

After the collapse of her best friend's relationship, Em (Emily Mortimer) - a successful British actress starring in a Hollywood movie, invites Doll (Dolly Wells) to LA to become her personal assistant. The friendship will of course come first, the work second...well, that's the plan anyway. Soon after arriving, the line between life and work becomes increasingly blurred until each one is no longer sure of the other's motivation. Is Doll being supportive because she's a good friend or because she is being paid to be? The gulf between the friends widens. As seen on HBO, Doll and Em is an intimate, funny portrait of female friendship, set against the backdrop of LA. At times bitter sweet, at times laugh-out-loud, this pastiche of friendship in the glossy world of film and television packs a delightful entertainment punch, whilst delivering important emotional truths across all 6 episodes.
