Synopsis:
For a lot of people body remains one large mystery. Concerning interrogations on sexuality, children and teenagers often have difficulties in tying a true dialogue with their parents and the adults in general. The taboos on all that concerns body, sex, pleasure, the difficulty of speaking about it simply, especially between generations are as many inhibiting factors. One can suffer from that and sometimes die from it. The dialogue is thus more than useful, it's absolutely necessary. It is a question of public health. By its simplicity, its delicacy, its accuracy in the tone, the series of cartoons 'The Joy of Life' helps to engage in conversations on sexuality in an easy and receptive way. In twenty episodes 'The Joy of Life' deals with sexuality in all its dimensions, physiological, reproductive, sensual, preventive… It answers the most intimate questions of children and young teenagers in a smart educational way

Where do babies come from? Let The Joy of Life help answer this question - and others - for curious youngsters. Join Annabelle and Alexander as they learn about sexuality from their insightful Grandmother. The mysteries of puberty, pregnancy, conception and love are uncovered by Grandma's honest and open discussions.
1. Little Boys: Annabelle and Alexandre discover the anatomy of boys' genitals and how they function.
2. Little Girls: Annabelle and Alexandre discover the anatomy of girls' genitals and how they function.
3. Tiny Seeds: Grandma talks about where the egg and sperm come from and how they are different from one another.
4. Chromosomes: Grandma discusses how inside the nucleus of the egg and the sperm, chromosomes determine individual genetic make-up; but education, personality and experience do the rest: each person is truly unique.
5. Puberty-Girls: Grandma discusses the physical changes which occur when a girl reaches puberty: her breasts become noticeable, her ovaries begin functioning and menstruation begins...
6. Puberty-Boys: Grandma discusses the physical changes which occur when a boy reaches puberty: his beard begins to grow, his voice becomes deeper, his testicles begin to function.
7. Sexual Instinct: Grandma compares sexual instinct in animals and in humans. She talks about the rules involved in relationships between human beings.
8. Discovering your Body: Grandma discusses the discovery of one's body and the pleasures of the senses.
9. Discovering Love: Grandmother explains what it means to 'make love' and why we make love, lovers games, sexual pleasure and intercourse.
10. Protecting Yourself: Grandma tells the children about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and how to prevent them. (She brings up AIDS.)
11. Conception: Grandma explains the path the sperm follows from its entry into the female's genitals until it reaches the egg and creates a new human being.
12. The Baby's Coming: Annabelle and Alexandre find out how a baby develops, from the time it is a tiny embryo until its birth.
13. The First Moment of Life: Grandma talks to Annabelle and Alexandre about what happens during the first few minutes after birth and the contact which takes shape between the baby and its parents.
14. Mom, I'm Hungry: Grandma explains how a girl's breasts begin to grow once she reaches puberty and talks about the different ways to feed newborns: bottle-feeding and breast-feeding.
15. Twins: Grandma explains the difference between 'real' twins and 'false' twins. Once again, she brings up the subject of the biological mechanisms involved in fertilization.
16. Is It a Girl or a Boy?: Grandma tells the children about how sex chromosomes determine each person's sex: male or female.
17. Planning a Family: Grandma talks about different methods of contraception and about how today couples can choose to have children when it suits them best.
18. Growing up: Grandma explains how gradually we all become independent individuals. She discusses how a child develops until adulthood and how along the way he or she learns to deal with a series of separations.
19. The Family Tree: Grandma shows how different generations make up a family's ancestry, its genealogy. She talks about each of the children's ancestors and shows her grandchildren their family tree.
20. Family Life: Grandma talks about family life and explains that while parents do sometimes separate, it need not to be a tragedy for their children. She also talks about adoption.

Love and sexuality explained to the children. These cartoons facilitates the answers to the most intimate questions and often embarrassing that the children ask to their parents : "From where I come ?", "Why I am a boy ?", "Why I am a girl ?", "How are babies made ?" ...
