Synopsis:
Documentary telling the story of Russian journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya, who was shot dead by an unknown killer outside her home in 2006. Prior to her assassination, she had made a slew of enemies within Vladimir Putin's administration. Her work included investigating and writing about the torture and murder of Chechen civilians at the hands of military forces loyal to Moscow, and negotiating with the Chechen rebels who took 700 people hostage in a Moscow theatre. In 2004, Politkovskaya set out for Beslan to aid the school hostage crisis, but was poisoned - almost fatally - before she could make it. Bergkraut's film pays tribute to a woman who overcame her sense of self-preservation in order to advocate ceaselessly for change and expose government corruption.

Documentary looking at the life and death of campaigning journalist Anna Politkovskaya.
