Synopsis:
The 35-hour work week has all of France in its thrall. This film turns it into a feature about economic and familial politics. Frank, a business school graduate, returns to his provincial hometown to take a management position in the factory where his father has been working for 30 years. First Frank makes the mistake of actually asking the workers on the assembly line for their opinions. Then upper management manipulates his findings to lay off employees. This creates a huge rift, not only between labor and management, but between father and son. A human morality tale that evokes paternal and filial love, and illustrates the personal risk behind political ideas.

Franck, a Parisian business school student, takes an internship in the Human Resources department at the factory where his father has labored for the past 30 years. When Franck's efforts to better the company lead to the firing of many employees, including his father, a furious confrontation ensues, forcing father and son to ponder their relationship while realizing their individual lives.

Frank, a business school student in Paris, takes an internship at the factory where his father has worked for 30 years, only to find that the ensuing lay-offs and general downsizing -- which cost his father his job -- are deeply troubling. Father and son go head to head in Laurent Cantent's stirring story of business, family, and individual opinion.
