Synopsis:
Olivier Malvoisin followed this advice from French cartoonist Plantu, and, via his film, reveals the working conditions of these artists who are on the frontline of 21st century political and societal upheaval.
Both observers of current affairs and visionary artists, cartoonists sketch the underside of politics, the reality of mores, and the flipside of conscience, denouncing with biting wit many instances of hypocrisy.
These journalists, who point the finger at battles to be waged, make light of the unacceptable, and make a mockery of and bring things back to what they are worth, encapsulating fear, resentment, anger and violence. The filmmaker travels to meet them in Europe (France, Germany and Belgium) and the US, as well as and in Iran, Palestine and Israel, examining the taboos specific to each universe: financial excess, sexism and religious prohibition.
