Synopsis:

For the first time is covered in a film, the theme of Art Therapy (paramedical care) and its benefits in the non-pharmacological management of patients with Alzheimer's disease. A new approach, a new way of cognitive stimulation, the concept of neuronal plasticity is discussed. Art therapy can restore physical, psychological and physical well-being in the PERSON, through the power of ART and following a therapeutic protocol! The message throughout the film is that of a humanistic approach towards one who is helpless in the face of Alzheimer's disease and can still live sublime moments until the End! A message of hope, a message of love, a message of LIFE!

The documentary film 'Et au bout…la VIE !" ("And in the End ... LIFE !"), highlights the benefits of art therapy (paramedical care) for the elderly living in retirement homes or for individuals with Alzheimer's Disease. I shot the film during my interventions in art therapy workshops, with the consent of the persons involved and/or with the consent of their families. The message throughout the film is that of a humane approach towards those who are helpless in the face of Alzheimer's disease and may even experience beautiful moments toward the end of their life! A message of hope,a message of Love, a moving message, this is a documentary film that plays down Alzheimer's disease, seen and experienced both within a nursing and also outside an institutional environment. During an art opening paintings made by the elderly during the workshop will be exhibited to the public. Their talent will be highlighted and being able to leave the nursing home or institution creates a link for the Alzheimer patients with the outside life, a very important moment in the continuity of socialization. This film can be part of an advanced paramedical and medical care for the person who is powerless in the face of this neurodegenerative disease. In France, it is estimated that there are more than 850,000 people with dementia from Alzheimer's disease and that each year about 200,000 new cases are diagnosed. By 2020, the number of people with the disease is expected to exceed one million and two million in 2040. The frequency of the disease and the progressive aging of the population are making Alzheimer's disease an epidemic with a socio-economic impact that continues to grow over the years. This film showcases techniques for the approach and stimulation of neuronal plasticity, well-being through art therapy workshops (music, painting), philosophical discussions around the fact that people remain an entity, a person, despite their illness.
