Synopsis:

Bjarne and Malin live on the banks of the Ljungan. Bjarne's father-in-law Halvar lives on the other side of the river. They have never seen eye to eye. The now 20-year-long conflict is based on class antagonisms, past words and inheritance issues regarding a firm of haulage contractors, for instance. One unlucky day, Malin crosses the river to persuade Halvar to guarantee a loan Bjarne wants to take out.

In John O. Olsson film Miracle in Viskan we meet Bjarne, who runs a moving company with his wife Malin, but it is shaky and the need to borrow money. On the other side of the river live Bjarnes father Halvar. The two have never pulled even, which stems from a 20-year conflict filled with idle words, stubborn pride and stubborn prestige. In order to rescue the firm Malin sees no other alternative than to go across the river to pray six months to cater for the loan.
