Synopsis:
Alzira is an opera in a prologue and two acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, based on the play Alzire, ou les Américains by Voltaire. Verdi's lyric tragedy performed by the forces of the Teatro Regio di Parma, conducted by Maurizio Benini. Recorded live in February of 1991. A Hardy Classic Video release.

Verdi's opera Alzira, recorded live in the Teatro Regio di Parma on 2 February 1991: please note this is not the same as another performance featured on a different DVD, also recorded in this theatre. Sung in Italian, with subtitles in Italian, English, French and Spanish. The cast includes Giancarlo Pasquetto, Maurizio Frusoni, Keiko Fukushima and Giacomo Prestia, with the Coro del Teatro Regio di Parma and the Orchestra del Conservatorio di Musica 'Arrigo Boito' conducted by Maurizio Benini.
