Synopsis:
Dramatised stories of the founders of modern medicine. Until the 1840s, medicine had remained basically unchanged since the days of the ancient Greece. In the 60 years following it was transformed into a modern science.

1: Ignacz Semmelweis and the search for the cause of pueperal fever.
2: Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch separetely establish the link between bacteria and disease.
3: Pasteur's discovery of vaccines, his rivalry with Koch and the hunt for the cholera germ.
4: The first successful use of a vaccine against rabies.
5: Under pressure, Koch announces that he has found a cure for tuberculosis before he has made proper trials.
6: Paul Ehrlich and salvarsan, the first of the miracle drugs.
