Synopsis:

Join Dylan Hunt, captain of the starship Andromeda, as he embarks on a spectacular journey around the cosmos in an attempt to restore the fallen Commonwealth in Gene Roddenberry s action-packed sci-fi adventure series. Captain Hunt and his ship, Andromeda, are frozen inside a black hole where they lie for centuries. When a passing ship revives them, they are horrified to discover that civilisation has collapsed and set off on a mission to bring unity back to the galaxy. From the creator of Star Trek comes this wonderful six disc box set filled with action, sci-fi and loads of special features.

Captain Dylan Hunt commands the sentient starship Andromeda Ascendent, representing the vast, utopian All-Systems Commonwealth. When the Nietzcheans betray the Commonwealth, he is forced to order his crew to abandon ship and to pilot the Andromeda into a black hole, where three hundred years pass in the blink of eye. The salvage ship Eureka Maru pulls the Andromeda out of the black hole, and Dylan finds a universe in chaos, the Commonwealth is a fading memory. With a mighty, living warship and a motley crew (composed of a salvage team, a mercenary from the species that betrayed the Commonwealth, and a monk from a species of savage predator), Captain Hunt will struggle to re-establish the Commonwealth and return civilisation to the three galaxies.

Season one of the series shows Dylan Hunt assembling the crew and adjusting to the new universe, while pursuing the creation of the New Systems Commonwealth. The idea of the new Commonwealth proves unpopular; only 6 worlds actually sign the Commonwealth charter in this season. Major powers like the Than Hegemony or the Nietzschean Sabra and Jaguar prides are not really interested in the new Commonwealth; Dylan also manages to make quite a few enemies himself (including the most powerful of all Nietzschean Prides, Drago-Kazov).
