In these exhilarating series, Blumenthal reinvents gastronomy. Searching through age-old recipes, the 'culinary alchemist' challenges himself to recreate them as the food of the future. SERIES ONE: Blumenthal goes to extraordinary lengths to recreate the mad hatters Tea Party from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland; bakes four and twenty blackbirds inside a pie; combines a variety of animals to create a mythical beast that's part lamb, part goose, part hog and part chicken; stimulates his guests with ejaculating cakes; and fashions an entirely edible scene based on the Christmas carol Good King Wenceslas. SERIES TWO: Among the lavish banquets in this series is a Will Wonka feast inspired by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; a Fairy-tale Feast inspired by stories such as Snow White, Cinderella and Hansel and Gretel; a ghoulish Gothic Feast that takes inspiration from Frankenstein, Dracula and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and an 80's Feast with all the gadgetry, excess and flashiness of the decade. FISHY FEAST: Kicking off his mind-boggling menu, Heston serves sea cumber sandwiches for his Fishy Afternoon Tea, complete with a side of laughing gas. On to the magnificent main course, the culinary genius creates a unique dish, titled Heston's Day Out at the seaside with Wolfish and Chips and Saucy Seagulls, before rounding his evening off with an Edible Coral Reef with Chocolate Starfish.

Michelin three-star award winning chef Heston Blumenthal believes the future of food can and needs to be developed from the past, but reinvented to modern sensibilities. He looks to specific historic periods as the inspiration for a series of meals he hopes will be one of the most if not most memorable feasts his guests have ever had. He strives not only to have the food taste good, but for it to be inventive and fun. Going into the meal, his guests have no idea what they will be experiencing.
