Synopsis:
Philippe Haudiquet's cinematographic work covers, in some of his most decisive moments, 20 years of French rural life. It constitutes by the density of its contents and by the cinematographic process which animates it, one of the most outstanding references of the peasant ethnography. After a career as a film critic and author of monographs by filmmakers such as Paul Féjos, Jean Epstein, Marc Donskoy and John Ford and collections of Hungarian and Polish filmmakers, Philippe Haudiquet began filming in the early 1970s in Occitan, France. the Luberon, participating in the nascent rise of a "Occitan" movement of French cinema. For several years, he directed many documentaries campaigning as close as possible to the Larzac struggle, notably his two feature films Gardarem lo Larzac (1974) and Les Bâtisseurs / Larzac 75-77 (1978). Philippe Haudiquet then turned to the landscapes of the north of France where he went to film the last mills in activity or the culture of the beet. He dedicated his career as a filmmaker to the peasant traditions in danger throughout France, threatened by the military industry or upset by the exodus. The lands of France that he filmed with passion, however, will continue to produce in the drastic conditions of the contemporary economy. Disque 1 : Gardarem lo Larzac (1974), Villages du Larzac (1973), Réponses à un attentat (1975) Disque 2 : Les Bâtisseurs/Larzac 75-77 (1978), Sansa (1970), Transhumance dans le Luberon (1970) Disque 3 : Moulins du Nord (1971), Crépuscule (1973), Les Halles (1973), Bibi (1976), Alphabétisation en Haïti (1976) Disque 4 : Paul Langevin (1985), Georges Rouquier ou la belle ouvrage (1993)
