Synopsis:

When Greenwich Village butcher Leo Lemke (George Dzundza) returns from a North Carolina fishing trip, he cannot wait to show off his prize catch: his beautiful new wife, a country clairvoyant named Marina (Demi Moore). But the butchers pride turns to prime concern when he hears gossip about a backwoods psychic whose charms are turning hardened city dwellers into love-struck kids. Dr Alex Tremor (Jeff Daniels), the local psychiatrist, is not convinced of Marinas so-called powers. But his textbooks cannot explain the joy she spreads, or the growing attraction he feels towards her.

A clairvoyant thinks she's met her husband to be because she's seen him in her dreams. They marry quickly, and return to the husband's ("the butcher"), home in the city. She has a big impact on everyone she meets by anticipating their questions and actions and advising them on their love life. Her interference then brings her into contact with the real man of her dreams.

A country clairvoyant's visions of romance are answered in the surprising form of a New York butcher whom she marries immediately, returning with him to his neighbourhood. Her visions start to touch all those who cross her path, to the frustration of the local psychologist whose patients no longer seem to need him.
