Synopsis:

All nine episodes of the contemporary British drama series about internet dating. Each episode follows the events of a first date between two people who have met through an online dating service. The ensemble cast includes Oona Chaplin, Will Mellor, Andrew Scott and Sheridan Smith. Mia & David S1, Ep1 10 Jun. 2013
Northern lorry driver David arrives at a restaurant to meet Celeste with whom he has arranged a date via the Internet. 'Celeste' arrives but is actually called Mia and proceeds to be offensive to him and the waitress. She eventually drops her guard and starts to get on with David but whilst he talks about himself and his late wife, she is enigmatic and leaves without telling him. He catches up with her and they kiss before she flees in a taxi.
Jenny & Nick S1, Ep2 11 Jun. 2013
Jenny, a shy teacher from Rotherham, meets super-confident city trader Nick in a London wine bar. She is nervous and talkative, he is bluff and full of himself though he does confess that his promiscuity wrecked his marriage. Then he takes a phone call from work and leaves the room. He is gone a long time so Jenny follows and discovers him having sex in the toilet. She gets her revenge by stealing his wallet.
Mia & Stephen S1, Ep3 12 Jun. 2013
Mia meets another date, superficially self-assured surgeon Stephen, though she shocks him by telling him that when she was an escort girl he paid her for sex. He wants to leave but she reminds him that they are on a date so they have sex in an alley before moving on to a pub. He gets a call from the hospital to say that he is needed and takes Mia with him, her unexpected kindness to a dying patient leaving him feeling confused.

Erica, a lesbian who cannot tell her traditional Chinese family, meets the experienced Kate in a bar and, although Kate is annoyed to find that Erica has been with men, they go home for sex. Next morning Kate is scathing when Erica tells her she is afraid to come out to her family but they still agree to meet for brunch. After Kate has left Erica receives a phone call from a man.
David & Ellie S1, Ep5 19 Jun. 2013
On his thirty-fourth birthday David meets Ellie and they go for a meal. She is, however, suspiciously young looking and when a friend comes over to speak to her it confirms David's surmise that she is still at school. She is nonetheless very mature for her age and, having heard David talking about Mia, makes contact with her and eventually takes David to her flat.
Erica & Callum S1, Ep6 25 Jun. 2013
Erica meets Callum in a Chinese restaurant. He is a brash, self-opinionated slob who thinks she should fancy him. However, when she tells him that she is gay and only went on the date to please her brother Tony, who wants to 'turn' her straight he is extremely sympathetic and they get drunk together - so drunk in fact that Callum gets out of hand and Erica calls Tony. By this time Callum has given Erica confidence to tell Tony exactly what she is and how she will never change and the mismatched pair leave together.
Stephen & Mia S1, Ep7 26 Jun. 2013
Stephen arranges to meet Mia for afternoon sex at an hotel but she rings to say she is not coming. He falls in with a conference of local government officers and befriends one of them, Heidi, whilst masquerading as a civil servant. Heidi is separated from her husband and the pair escape the others, taking a sexy swim in the hotel pool but when Stephen gets a phone call which shows that he is a doctor Heidi is annoyed and walks out on him.

Jenny goes on another date and appears to hit it off with Christian as they both find the exhibits in the art gallery where they meet pretentious. He is sympathetic as she recalls doomed previous dates and her ex-boyfriend's marriage. Although he belongs to a religious group and she is an atheist she finds him wholly charming and they repair to his flat for afternoon sex. Unfortunately he has omitted to tell Jenny something very important about himself - as she discovers when his wife walks in on them.

Mia and David are now a couple, if a slightly mismatched one and are due to spend a day with David's young children but he detects that she is not keen and walks out on her in the pub. She rings Stephen but he turns up with Frankie, his bright eleven-year old son on a day's access. After Stephen's ex-wife has taken Frankie home Mia takes Stephen back to her flat, to find an angry David, who has cut his hand hitting the glass on her door and the two men bond briefly as Stephen bandages the cut before leaving Mia and David to try and make a success of their relationship.
