Synopsis:

Prem Sharma, a highly educated Indian Doctor and Kamini, his beautiful upper class wife, are attracted by the promise of opportunities in the new National Health Service and a glamorous lifestyle in London. They leave India in 1963 only to find themselves sent to a small practice in a Welsh coal mining village instead of the bright lights of the big city. The Sharma's struggle to cope with the culture shock of being educated foreigners in a small working class village, but will the doctor's gentle bedside manner and understanding of human nature help win over the locals? Based on real events, this uplifting and charming series boast of lively characters, exceptional acting with outstanding production values. Starring Sanjeev Bhaskar, this two disc set includes all five episodes from the first series of the award-winning BBC drama.
