Synopsis:
Matt Draper (Michael Rooker) is a man who lives two lives. In one, he's a prescription salesman living in a rural country house married to an emotionally withdrawn young woman, named Ruth (Rebecca De Mornay) whom he keeps locked up within the house, as more or less a prisoner. But as Dr. Matt Swan, he regularly commutes to nearby Los Angeles where he's a wealthy pharmacist married to a wealthy socialite named Ariana Harpwood (Lisa Zane) and has two children with her. Neither wife is aware of Matt's double life or his unwillingness to let either one go. When Ruth becomes more unstable when she suspects Matt is cheating on her, she starts a romance with Tom Bernard (Mark Rolston) a married neighbor who moves into the country house just next door. When Matt realizes that Ruth is socializing with people, (against a stern rule he gives her) he plots to get rid of her, unaware that Ruth is plotting to do just likewise, but she's unaware of her new friend Tom's dark secrets.

Crazy, quirky but lovable Ruth (Rebecca de Mornay) deals with her loneliness by conjuring up ways how she can catch her husband up in lies about his fidelity. Still, despite it all, they love each other. But when Ruth finds a .38 revolver carefully concealed, she becomes suspicious. In reality, Matt is leading a double life. When he's not with Ruth, he is a successful, refined researcher living a life filled with elegant parties and a mansion home. When circumstances dictate that Matt must give up his double life, he creates a devious plan to annul his marriage to Ruth. As the action unfolds, layers of deceit are peeled away as unpredictable competitors fight in a life or death affair.

A wife, her two-timing husband and a flirting neighbor are unpredictable competitors in a warped game that turns into a life-or-death affair.
