Synopsis:
In this century more troubled than any before, the Church has been confronted by turns with fascism, Nazism, Soviet totalitarianism, civil war in Spain, two world conflicts, the extermination of the Jews. , the Stalinist purges, the cold war, the atomic bomb. At the same time, the political influence of the Holy See has taken on a universal dimension, expanding its territory of relations beyond the central European space alone to other continents. The director met the actors of Vatican diplomacy and lifts the veil on many astonishing facts hitherto unknown, and whose sources rested in the secret archives of the Vatican. Long inaccessible, these archives have only recently been opened. In 1962, Paul VI invited a team of historians to analyze the archived sources of the pontificate of Pius XII, from 1939 to 1958. In 2006, Benedict XVI extended the opening to the complete set of these archives. For the first time, your memory of Vatican diplomacy is entirely in the hands of historians.
