Martin Clunes returns as the bored sales executive Reggie Perrin, an average man finding it increasingly difficult to put up with the monotony of life. Out of the ashes of his breakdown, Reggie Perrin creeps back from the brink with a new zest for his once monotonous life. The once-frustrated commuter and disposable razor sales executive has come up with an alternative plan - one where he can bail out of his misery-inducing career and finally live for the moment. Then, in a moment of red mist, his wife Nicola (Fay Ripley) loses her teaching job and Reggie's laid-back new lifestyle of oil painting, pointless therapy and baking is under threat. Reggie is sucked back into the world of men's personal grooming, but this time he's armed with the freedom to do as he wishes...

Nicola, now sacked,is bored at home, spending her time mending basket chairs, whilst her father tells Reggie he has cold feet about marrying his mother.

The Groomtech chairman, hugely impressed, gives Reggie his next assignment,to cut half the staff. Nicola, feeling neglected as Reggie embraces his work with great enthusiasm, initially turns down David after he makes a pass at her at the swimming baths but still ends up ringing him. Season 2, Episode 6: Episode #2.6
Original Air Date-18 November 2010
After setting to work on David's house with a nail-gun,Reggie moves in with Anthony in his chaotic flat and exposes Nicola's infidelity in his best man's speech at his mother's wedding. Groomtech is sold but nobody is sacked. However Reggie is demoted whilst Chris gets his old job back.Nicola comes to the flat where Reggie is enjoying the single life,to tell him that she now has a job and wants him to come home. Reggie is not certain if he even wants to stay in the country and, after Nicola has gone, packs a case.

Reggie Perrin has a cushy job as head of innovation in a men's body care products firm, but philosophically hates meaningless office life. He's equally unhappy with commuting, his dull marriage, his parents, his colleagues and especially his cry boss Chris. Yet he never does anything about this life, even tends to help his hated significant others out of a pickle.
