Synopsis:

The Human Contract is the provocative psychological journey of a successful advertising executive in full control of his life and career. That is, until he encounters a beautiful woman, who introduces him to her world of uninhibited passion and reckless freedom - one not bound by conventional rules. The perfect modern fantasy... passion and sex, exploration and escape... without ties or commitment. As their journey progresses and the faade of his perfect life dissolves, he is forced to confront deep-seated wounds from his past. Ultimately, their relationship becomes a catharsis for truths and secrets, neither has dared faced before.

Locked doors, and the monster inside us. In L.A., tightly-wound Julian Wright is separated. He meets Michael, she's seductive and uninhibited; by chance, a few days later they connect. The PR firm where he's creative director is competing to be bought by a household name (think Proctor & Gamble); winning will bring money, status, and a big ad budget. His firm's win depends on both his ideas and his maintaining traditional values; so, he puts his divorce on hold. His family adds problems: childhood memories and his sister's abusive husband threaten his balance. His fuse is short. Will self control hold obsession and fury in check, or is Michael the spark that will start a conflagration?

Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith makes her feature directorial debut with this drama about a tormented businessman (Jason Clarke) whose life crumbles to ruins when he meets a free spirited temptress (Paz Vega) who lures him towards a dangerous existence of reckless abandon. Ted Danson and Idris Elba co-star in a film penned by director Pinkett-Smith, and executive produced by her husband Will Smith.
