Synopsis:
A Film Like Any Other: Workers on a car factory argue with revolutionary students. See You at Mao: Filmed in the UK in 1969, this documentary by Godard and the Dziga Vertov Group represents an analysis of production and the status of women in capitalist society and a speculation about class consciousness and the need for political organization. A group of men formed by trade unionists and employers debate on what measures would benefit their respective classes. At the same time, a group of young hippies tested several Beatles songs. Le Vent d'Est: A filmic essay on class struggle which draws on images from westerns but has no plot and is both an experiment in making a revolutionary film and an interrogation of how successfully such a film can be revolutionary. Lotte in Italia: The film reveals how and why a supposedly revolutionary Italian girl has in fact fallen prey to bourgeois ideology. Vladimir et Rosa: In Godard and Gorin's free interpretation of the Chicago Eight trial, Judge Hoffman becomes Judge Himmler (who doodles notes on Playboy centerfolds), the Chicago Eight become microcosms of French revolutionary society, and Godard and Gorin play Lenin and Karl Rosa, respectively, discussing politics and how to show them through the cinema.

Collection of five films by the influential French directors Jean-Luc Godard and Jean-Pierre Gorin. 'Un Film Comme Les Autres' (1968) looks at the social upheaval caused by the 1968 French workers' and students' protests. 'British Sounds' (1970) focuses on the daily routine of an assembly line worker in a British factory. 'Le Vent D'est' (1970) touches on the manufacturing of home-made weapons. 'Lotte in Italia' (1971) focuses on a young Italian activist and her ideologies. Finally, 'Vladimir et Rosa' (1971) is based on the trial of the Chicago Eight, who were arrested and charged following anti-Vietnam War protests in the city.
