Synopsis:

The Photographer: War photographer Robert Thuresson's work is being put on display in Ystad. American Sarah Lyell argues with the photographer before the exhibition and later is found dead, in possession of one of his photos. The case extends beyond Sweden as Wallander finds a motive for the death. The Blanket: Linda discovers nine corpses and a live baby girl locked in an abandoned container lorry. Her father assumes the driver fled when he realized his cargo of illegal immigrants had died. A photo leads to a convent, whose abbess - an evacuee herself as a child - has helped many refugees and believes the ends justify the means to give them better lives. Holmblad, who owned and drove the lorry, is found, tortured and murdered, and his house ransacked. Castle in the Air: Crusty old Greger Stehn and his equally unpopular dogs are poisoned with botulinum. Despite drawing out 20 million krone from the bank Greger lived in a hovel opposite a block of luxury flats where the wives are into yoga, keep fit and botox - which uses botulinum. The money has disappeared and the chief suspect is Johan Haartman, a plastic surgeon with heavy debts who was in the bank when Greger took out the money. Then he and his wife are also poisoned and their baby is fostered by a neighbour, whose child died in a cot death. Is she the killer? Bloodline: Following an argument with her lover on her boat, a woman is found dead. Wallander and the Ystad police investigate; their inquiries lead them to a farm commune and to an old friend of Linda's. The Joker: Carina Olsson is shot and killed outside her restaurant, the only witness being her eight-year-old daughter Cleo. Wallander discovers that years earlier she had been a key witness in a trial in Malmo which put a criminal behind bars and assumes it is a revenge slaying. Unconventional cop Frank Berg arrives from Malmo to help Wallander and his team get to the murderer before he reaches Cleo. The Secret: Eleven-year-old Johannes is found dead in a barn after he has been sexually abused. Lindman is charged with telling the father, whom he knows from a local shooting club, but is taken off the case for previous unprofessional contact and pursues his own investigations. The prime suspect, a man seen chatting to Johannes at a supermarket, is found dead but his neighbour, an ex-policeman, had already arrested a similar child killer years earlier. As the investigation continues, it is clear that child pornography is involved, reopening old memories for Lindman.
