Synopsis:
Gunman's Walk: Widower Lee Hackett (Van Heflin), a cattle rancher who is a product of the old west, tries to bring up his two sons, Ed (Tab Hunter) and Davy (James Darren), in his image, but Ed is wild and unruly. The two brothers are both attracted to Clee Chouard (Kathryn Grant) but she prefers Davy. Ed's efforts to outshine his father and brother and everyone else lead him into a career of a gunfighter, and a confrontation with his father. The Violent Men: A Union ex-officer plans to sell up to Anchor Ranch and move east with his fiancée, but the low price offered by Anchor's crippled owner and the outfit's bully-boy tactics make him think again. When one of his hands is murdered, he decides to stay and fight, utilizing his war experience. Not all is well at Anchor with the owner's wife carrying on with his brother, who anyway has a Mexican moll in town. Good Day for a Hanging: It's been more than twenty years since Ben Cutler (Fred MacMurray) wore a badge, but when the town's bank gets robbed, he joins the posse. After the chase, where he saw Marshal Cain (Emile Meyer) get killed, he can't say 'no' when the town asks him to take over the Marshal's duties. However, that same town starts to turn against him when he takes his new duties seriously by arresting and testifying against the killer... a boy, Eddie 'The Kid' Campbell (Robert Vaughn), who grew up in this town and comes from a broken home, garnering the sympathy of the townsfolk, who'd rather believe one of the other escaped bank robbers shot the sheriff. This is compounded by his daughter, who still has a crush on Eddie, even though after his mother died two years ago, he left town with not a word to her since. She, too, is convinced that Eddie is still that good little boy everyone remembers, and can't believe he's been changed, by his new life of riding with outlaws. Three Hours to Kill: Jim Guthrie (Dana Andrews) is a fugitive who has been run out of town after being nearly lynched for the murder of a man he did not kill. He returns, bearing the physical and mental scars of his experience, determine to clear his name. The would-be-lynchers , fearing that Guthrie will exact some kind of revenge for their anti-social treatment to him, set out to get him before he gets them. Laurie Mastin (Donna Reed) is the pregnant girl he left behind who marries another man. The real killer is identified.
