Synopsis:
Winston McAnuff, nicknamed 'Electric Dread', returns to the white continent after years of silence. The film traces his return to the Escales de Saint-Nazaire stage. Winston McAnuff was born in 1957 in the hills of Jamaica. Nicknamed 'Electric dread', he began to combine his life with reggae very early on. On the stage of Escales de St Nazaire, the pastor's son transcends this role of Rastafari preacher with a passion that is as singular as it is jovial. He runs on stage, harangues the crowd, rolls joyfully on the ground. Where does this intact energy come from after so many years of silence? How does he transpose his memories and beliefs on the old white continent where he is making his comeback thanks to the Makasound label? In counterpoint, we find him seated, quiet, intimate finally. In the neutral setting of a construction site, accompanied by his guitar, he tells us brief stories of Rasta country. From words and prayers, emerges the poetry of distant Jamaica. First musical love, first initiating encounters. Even if the big island is far away, the ghosts of missing elders resurface. Electric Dread philosopher.
