Synopsis:
With his documentary Cabal in Kabul, filmmaker Dan Alexe provides a character study of two highly anomalous, colorful individuals. Isaac and Zebulon are the last two Jews living in the Islamic Afghan Republic, amid millions of impassioned Muslim neighbors. The two men co-inhabit one of Kabul's few remaining synagogues - octogenarian Isaac on the lower floor, selling amulets to the Islamic people; middle-aged Zebulon on the upper level, quibbling with patrons over the price of the wine that he's selling. Incredibly, the men feel no loyalty or allegiance to one another, but instead berate and attack each other continually with vicious insults, slurs and accusations - Isaac insisting that Zebulon forged a deal with the Taliban, Zebulon asserting that Isaac may be Jewish by birth, but is in fact a practicing Muslim.

Documentary about the last two Jews living in Kabul in Afghanistan. Isaac Levy and Zabulon Simantov live on different floors in the courtyard of Kabul's old synagogue. Antagonistic towards and refusing to interact with each other, both trade with the same Afghan neighbours. They are only to ready to insult and hurl abuse at one another and the director acts as a double agent as he films them non-judgementally and records their relationship.

There are only two Jews left in Afghanistan, and they live in the same place: a former synagogue in Kabul. But rather than bonding together, they can't stand each other. The elderly Isaac lives on the ground floor and makes a living by selling amulets to his Muslim neighbors. Middle-aged Zebulon lives on the top floor and haggles with the same Afghans over his illegally produced wine. Each fight over their Jewish legitimacy and gleefully tells tales of the other's deceit and treachery to bemused Director Alexe.
