Synopsis:
The Freemasons have been a secretive and controversial society for centuries. Historical and recent developments describe mystical ties. The seclusion is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it gives Freemasonry a great appeal. People are curious about what happens there. On the other hand, many reigning princes or governments have also shown great suspicion. Are there no subversive plans being hatched there to undermine the state authority?
Some princes have solved this by becoming members themselves. In order to avoid any external pressure, membership is therefore kept secret. The idea of ??a group of influential people who protect each other quickly also takes hold in the outside world. There are certainly many historical examples of lodges where this happened.
There are also societies that set up their association on the model of a lodge and then present themselves as a Freemason lodge. That causes confusion. In anti-Masonic writings, Freemasonry is accused of being an organization that secretly tries to acquire state power, or wants to bring about the transformation of society on the way to one totalitarian and global world government (new world order). In these writings, Freemasonry is also accused of secretly worshipping Satan under the name Lucifer or Lightbearer. Freemasonry itself consistently denies having secret knowledge, which is reserved for its members. However, they do believe that the unique experience of being a Freemason is incomprehensible to outsiders, and will therefore always be mysterious. Secrecy is also a priority, so that members can discuss freely with each other, without the content of conversations being revealed. Only these circumstances offer the Freemason the certainty of being able to talk in complete freedom.
