Synopsis:
The classic British sitcom Never The Twain centred around the lives of grumpy old men Oliver Smallbridge (Windsor Davies - Terrahawks) and Simon Peel (Donald Sinden Two s Company). As ex-business partners, neighbours and rival antique dealers, they remained bitter enemies throughout the series which followed their hilarious escapades and attempts to get one-up on each other, until the unthinkable happened... their children fell in love! This fantastic series was created by Johnnie Mortimer (Man About The House, Robin s Nest) and featured early appearances by Honor Blackman, Teddy Turner and Maria Charles. Series One Episodes: Families At War, Of Meissen Men, A Night At The Opera, A Matched Pair, Nothing But The Truth, Father Of The Groom. Series Two Episodes: Who s Been Sleeping In My Bed?, As Young As You Feel, A Woman s Place, Blood Brothers, If You Knew Susan, The More We Are Together.

It's 'Never the Twain Shall Meet' time again in the MGM romantic melodrama Lady of the Tropics. The lady in question is half-caste Manon De Vargnes (Hedy Lamarr), a resident of prewar Saigon. American playboy Bill Carey (Robert Taylor) falls madly in love with Manon, but both have their crosses to bear: she is affianced to an Indochinese prince, and he is unable to secure a passport to bring her back to the United States. Adding to the dilemma is influential bureaucrat Pierre Delaroch (Joseph Schildkraut), who agrees to arrange an exit visa for Manon in exchange for a few 'favors.' Nothing good can come from this, and nothing does.
