Synopsis:

Out of the Ashes: Based on a true story, this heart-wrenching film follows the journey of Gisella Perl (Christine Lahti), a Jewish-Hungarian doctor who manages to survive Auschwitz. Decades later, she's applying for U.S. citizenship when she becomes accused of colluding with the Nazis. Her judge and jury are three INS investigators (played by Bruce Davison, Richard Crenna and Beau Bridges) who must decide her fate. The Devil's Arithmetic: Hannah Stern, an American-born Jewish adolescent, is uninterested in the culture, faith, and customs of her relatives. But she begins to reevaluate her heritage during a supernatural experience of being transported back to a Nazi death camp in 1941 and meeting a young girl named Rivkah who is a fellow captive in the camp. As Hannah and Rivkah struggle to survive in the face of daily atrocities, they form an unbreakable bond. The Last Train: The year is 1943 and the last of the Jews are being evacuated from Berlin. They are locked in cattle cars with no food and little water. During the trip several of the characters are drawn out and vignettes of their lives are highlighted to restore some humanity to their animal existence aboard the train. The suffering and agony is palpable. The Angel of Auschwitz: The movie is based on the experiences of Polish Catholic midwife, Stanislawa Leszczynka, who was sent to Auschwitz by the Gestapo, after being caught helping Jews in the Lodz Ghetto. She risked her life delivering babies and trying to keep them alive in Auschwitz. She is being considered for canonization (sainthood) by the Catholic Church. The Guard of Auschwitz: Follows the events of the Holocaust through the eyes of an SS Soldier.
